Reaching women with limited access to support services

For women facing financial hardship, illness or social isolation, taking care of themselves can become increasingly difficult. Access to support services also remains unequal across different areas.

Through its Beauty For A Better Life programme, the L’Oréal Foundation has been addressing this issue for several years. It provides free socio-aesthetic treatments to women in vulnerable situations. These moments of care can notably help rebuild self-esteem and confidence, while fostering social connection.

Geography is another key challenge. In disadvantaged neighbourhoods and rural areas, some women remain far removed from traditional care and support services.

An Ipsos bva study conducted for the L’Oréal Foundation also highlights the perceived role of socio-aesthetic care. 91% of people in France believe that support from a socio-aesthetic practitioner can help vulnerable women regain their confidence and reintegrate into society.

The Foundation therefore aims to bring these services closer to women who face the greatest barriers to accessing them.

A purpose-led roadshow bringing care closer to local communities

To address this accessibility challenge, the programme adopts a purpose-led roadshow approach. The principle is simple: rather than expecting beneficiaries to travel to a fixed location, the initiative goes directly to local communities.

The Mobile Beauty Care Salon therefore takes the form of a dedicated mobile space offering socio-aesthetic treatments. This approach combines mobility with local accessibility, while enabling the programme to reach different regions across France.

In 2026, the initiative expands significantly with the introduction of a second mobile salon. Over five months, two Mobile Beauty Care Salons travel across France, with nearly 140 stops planned.

This nationwide roadshow is also firmly rooted in local communities. Beauty For A Better Life works with around 40 organisations across the healthcare, medico-social and social sectors. These local partners notably help connect women with the mobile salons.

The roadshow therefore addresses a clear objective: to reduce the distance between care services and the women they are designed to support.

Two mobile salons and nearly 140 stops across France

At each stop, the initiative recreates a dedicated space for care, wellbeing and support. Beneficiaries are welcomed by professional socio-aesthetic practitioners, trained in beauty treatments and in supporting people in vulnerable situations.

Facial treatments, hand care, personalised advice and opportunities to talk are all part of the support provided. Each appointment gives participants a moment for themselves, away from the challenges of everyday life.

The mobile format also enables the programme to reach communities more effectively. The salons travel from one location to another, while partner organisations help identify and support beneficiaries locally.

For its sixth edition, the programme aims to reach 5,000 women in vulnerable situations. Two mobile salons will travel across France for five months, with nearly 140 stops scheduled.

This latest edition builds on a long-term commitment. Since 2007, nearly 200,000 women have benefited from free socio-aesthetic treatments, opportunities to talk and wellbeing support through the Beauty For A Better Life programme.

Through this roadshow, the L’Oréal Foundation turns its programme into a tangible, locally accessible initiative: going directly to beneficiaries to make socio-aesthetic care easier to access.
